Scansano

Scansano is located about 30 km from the city of Grosseto and is par excellence a holiday resort, in fact when Grosseto was still a marshy town, Scansano was the place where all the people of Grosseto went.
A practice called Estatatura, which however in recent years has been revived as a tourist and cultural event by local companies and associations with a real historical-cultural and food-and-wine itinerary.

When you arrive in Scansano, passing through the sixteenth-century gate, you will find yourself immersed in the famous historic centre and visiting the medieval village, amidst art and social life, you cannot fail to visit and attend the shows offered by the Castagnoli theatre. And when you want to rest and enjoy a moment of conviviality, you can choose from the many wine cellars scattered throughout the town, sipping a glass of the renowned Morellino.

Outside the town, in the surrounding countryside, you can visit small, equally charming hamlets such as Montorgiali with its medieval castle, the village of Pereta, the villa of Montepò or the convent of San Pietro al Petreto. 

From Scansano, about 30 km inland, you can reach the thermal baths of Saturnia, in the nearby municipality of Manciano, where warm thermal waters will envelop you in complete relaxation. And if you like to take long horseback rides while enjoying the view of romantic sunsets, you can do so accompanied by the "Butteri", the famous Maremma "Cowboys".
